Ontario Works

​Effective September 16, 2020, hours of operations for services to the public are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Available services include cheque pick-up, document drop-off, and assistance with urgent inquiries. 

Members of the public are reminded to adhere to safety precautions when visiting any Ontario Works office, including wearing a face covering at all times when inside the building(s) and exercising proper hand sanitization. Additional sanitization stations have been set up to accommodate this.

Clients are strongly encouraged to register for Direct Bank Deposit.  To do so, please contact your Caseworker by telephone at 705-722-3132.​

For clients not registered for Direct Bank Deposit, ​cheque pick-up is available at Ontario Works offices in Barrie, Bradford*, Orillia, Collingwood, Alliston and Midland. *Please note that effective September 28th, the Ontario Works office in Bradford will reopen in its new location: Unit 4 -157 Holland Street East, Bradford, Ontario, L3Z 1G4

Please note that your monthly financial assistance will not be impacted by the pandemic, regardless if you receive funds by cheque or direct bank deposit. Appointments will be completed by phone only.  

For the September 2020 benefit month, clients are once again required to submit any paperwork as part of the application process for Ontario Works assistance or to request necessary benefits. This includes the monthly Statement of Income – unless otherwise advised by your Caseworker.

Additional Information for Wage Earners 

Applications for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will open on April 6th through the Government of Canada website. Any Canadian who has ceased working for a 14-day period due to COVID-19 is eligible to apply.
