NOTICE OF (Virtual) PUBLIC MEETING REGARDING DEVELOPMENT CHARGES Tuesday, October 26, 2021 – 10:00 a.m.
Take notice that on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. the Council of the County of Simcoe will hold a virtual public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied throughout Simcoe County. It is proposed that enactment of development charges by-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.
Development charges are levied against new development and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2021 Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of the following eligible Development Charges Services: Library, Paramedic, Long Term Care & Seniors, Social Housing, Waste Management, Development Related Studies and Services Related to a Highway (Public Works & Roads and Related).
Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997 to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2021 Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges by-law.
Any person may make written representation either in support of or in opposition of the study and/or by-law. Written submissions should be directed to the Office of the County Clerk at 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst ON L9N 1X6 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than noon on October 25, 2021.
Members of the public who do not wish to make a delegation but would like to view the meeting may do so through the County's live stream feed. Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of a new development charges by-law.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this meeting will be held virtually in accordance with the Procedure By-law. Any person wishing to make verbal representation either in support of or in opposition of the by-law must pre-register with firstname.lastname@example.org no later than October 25, 2021 at noon, and follow the virtual meeting preparation guide as provided upon registration.
Those who have registered will be required to appear and speak via ZOOM. In order to participate in a ZOOM meeting you will require a camera enabled device (computer/tablet) and a reliable internet connection. A copy of the 2021 Development Charges Background Study will be made available on the County's website www.simcoe.ca before Friday, September 24, 2021. A copy of the development charges by-law(s) will be made available on the County's website on or before Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
