County Road 21 Innisfil Beach Road Project

The Innisfil Beach Road

Page Updated: August 3, 2023

About the project

The Innisfil Beach Road (IBR) Improvement Project is a significant joint initiative being led by the County in partnership with the InnService Utilities (Town of Innisfil). The improvement includes widening of the road from two to four lanes, storm water enhancements, and a new off-road trail linking Alcona to the Innisfil Campus. Utility work being completed will enable the Town of Innisfil to service new Economic Development lands and infrastructure, which will support job creation and our regional economy.

Timelines

Work on this project will resume on Monday, July 17, 2023 and continue until late 2023. Due to a change in a contractor, the project was temporarily paused; however, every effort is being made to complete the majority of work between CR4 and the 20th Sideroad during the 2023 construction season, with minor finishes expected in 2024.

Tuesday/Wednesday August 8/9, 2023
Georgian will be paving base course asphalt on the South side of the road in the area adjacent to 1878 and 2058 Innisfil Beach Road. Read our August 3 newsletter for more information.

Impacts to drivers and neighbours

The MTO continues road work along IBR and have a full road closure in effect for most of July. Click here to view the MTO's timeline for their road closure on IBR.

Once the MTO reopens IBR, there may be minor impacts to drivers between CR4 and the 20th Sideroad (County and InnServices section of work), such as continued speed limit restrictions. To support the ongoing flow of traffic, every effort is made to maintain two lanes of traffic.

We appreciate the public's patience as we ensure that this significant road improvement project is being completed safely and properly, and according to the County, Ministry and Town's requirements.

County's Commitment and Experience:

Investing an average of $70M annually in road enhancement projects across the region, the County successfully completed a similar project between Barrie and Angus in 2021, where Highway 90 was expanded from two to five lanes.
