Waste Facilities

Select County Waste Facilities Open for Urgent Use Only

Effective March 30, 2020, the County has opened a select number of waste facilities in a limited capacity to support urgent disposal needs only of local businesses and residents. The following 4 Waste Facilities & HHW Depots (chosen by their geography) are now open with new operating hours and restrictions (see below):

Reduced Operating Hours and Days:

  • Open five days a week (Monday – Friday only)
  • 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (must be in entrance gate by 3:00 pm or service not provided)

New safety measures and restrictions have been put into effect to limit the spread of COVID-19 to protect residents and staff.  We need your assistance to keep everyone safe:

On-Site Safety Measures:

  • Cashless transactions (credit / debit only – tap preferred)
  • If you are self-isolating due to symptoms or have recently returned (within 14 days) from travel outside the Country, DO NOT VISIT OUR FACILITIES
  • Please ensure you use proper hand sanitization, cough or sneeze into your arm when out in any public space
  • Increased sanitation & PPE requirements by staff
  • Customer interactions through speaker system
  • Physical distancing (2 metre minimum separation) must be exercised between customers and staff
  • Please do not socialize with other customers on site
  • Increased safety signage

Waste Facility Restrictions:

  • Facility use for urgent/critical drop-offs only
  • Inbound curbside collections trucks take priority
  • $10 min charge per load (large loads will still be weighed) to discourage small, non-critical loads and decrease interactions at the scale
  • Some diversion programs are temporarily unavailable, these materials will be disposed of and charged as garbage
  • No split charges to reduce number of transactions, however; customers must still separate materials into designated areas
  • Limiting flow of traffic into the facility at one time to reduce contact among customers and staff which could result in longer wait times

Landfill Permit Holders:

  • Special, temporary procedures have been put into place for households that do not receive curbside collection service and have been previously issued a landfill permit.
  • Residents with a valid landfill permit will receive instructions in the mail or call Service Simcoe below:

Service Simcoe will continue to be operational for Phone or Email service, service@simcoe.ca  or 800-263-3199.

To receive live updates regarding waste services directly, residents can download the free Simcoe County Collects app through Google Play or the App Store.

The County of Simcoe is responsible for 3 active landfill sites and 5 transfer stations in addition to managing numerous closed landfill sites. For additional information please review the frequently asked questions section.
