Congratulations Ellen Millar, Corporate & Municipal Records Archivist!

May 12, 2023

Ellen Millar

Ellen is the 2023 recipient of the Archives Association of Ontario Alexander Fraser Award.

This prestigious award is presented to individuals who have contributed in a significant way to the advancement of the archival community in Ontario. Since joining the staff of the Simcoe County Archives in 1995, Ellen has consistently demonstrated exceptional knowledge and professionalism. She has served on the boards of the AAO's Municipal Archives Interest Group, the Simcoe County Historical Association, and the Simcoe County Branch, Ontario Ancestors. A popular speaker in communities throughout the County, Ellen's written work includes posts on the Archives' Blog, three editions of the Directory to Municipal Archives in Ontario and a chapter of In Pursuit of the Archvial Endeavour: The Story of the Archives Association of Ontario. Her personal research work into Simcoe County's military history lay the foundations for the Simcoe County Remembers database that the SCA launched in 2018. Recently, she assisted with emergency response and disaster-recovery efforts following a flood in a public office and a fire at a local church.

This is a well-deserved achievement. Congratulations again Ellen!
