Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY) Active Transportation Trail

​The County has the opportunity to convert a 23 km stretch of the former BCRY into an active transportation trail. This section of the proposed tr​ail runs from Stayner (Township of Clearview) to Angus (Township of Essa). The County of Simcoe has completed the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.

The BCRY Active Transportation Trail will:   

  • Help build a healthier and stronger County
  • Connect the communities of Collingwood, Stayner, New Lowell, and Angus
  • Promote walking and cycling for recreation and the enjoyment of nature
  • Support healthy living, economic development, and tourism opportunities

Key Dates

  • ​Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Comment Period - February 9 to March 10, 2023
  • Design - Winter 2022 - Summer 2023
  • Anticipated Construction Start - Fall 2023
