Mobile Education Unit (MEU)

​​Important COVID-19 Notice:

Due to provincial guidelines around restricting gatherings and the County's efforts to help flatten the COVID-19 curve in relation to the spread of the virus, the County has cancelled all County-sanctioned public events, gatherings for the foreseeable future and will not be attending external events/festivals or gatherings until government sanctions are lifted. We strongly recommend anyone planning to hold an event in the over the next few months to adhere to public health recommendations.​

​​​​​​​​Mobile Education Unit Trailer 

The  Mobile Education Unit​ (MEU) is a 35ft trailer wrapped in wall-to-wall graphics both inside and out and serves as a travelling classroom equipped with interactive games which teach the importance of waste reduction and diversion programs. The unit is away from November to March due condensation issues with the touch screens.

The County reserves the right to limit bookings to those groups deemed appropriate by number, age, location and time of year. Does not apply to residents of Barrie and Orillia.



What is the Mobile Education Unit (MEU)What is the Mobile Education Unit (MEU)<p>The MEU features various interactive stations consisting of a total of six 24-inch touch screens and eight digital photo screens.</p><p><img class="ms-rtePosition-1" alt="The Green Grocery" src="/SolidWasteManagement/PublishingImages/greengrocery.gif?RenditionID=4" style="margin:5px;" />The first interactive station is the 'Green Grocery’ this game teaches the importance of making the choices which benefit our environment at point of purchase. </p><p></p><p><img class="ms-rtePosition-1" alt="Smart's Home" src="/SolidWasteManagement/PublishingImages/smartshome.gif?RenditionID=4" style="margin:5px;" />The second interactive station is the 'Smart’s Home' during this game participants will learn the importance of recycling in the different areas of the home.</p><p></p><p><img class="ms-rtePosition-1" alt="Lifecycle Lane" src="/SolidWasteManagement/PublishingImages/lifecyclelane.gif?RenditionID=4" style="margin:5px;" />The third station is 'Lifecycle Lane' where information is provided on the lifecycle of common recyclable items and organic materials, as well as disposal information and the values of waste reduction and diversion.</p><p></p><p><img class="ms-rtePosition-1" alt="Waste Plant" src="/SolidWasteManagement/PublishingImages/wasteplant.gif" style="margin:5px;width:113px;" />The fourth station is the 'Waste Plant', in this activity, various waste items move across a virtual conveyor belt with the player required to drag and drop the material into the proper bins at the bottom of the screen.</p><p>Sounds exciting doesn’t it.</p><p><strong>For more information please contact us at:</strong> <a title="to book the meu, send us an email!" href="mailto:MEU@simcoe.ca"><font color="#0066cc">MEU@simcoe.ca</font></a>  <br></p>
