Many municipalities have different waste requirements. Therefore what you set out at home may be different than at your cottage. Please review County's garbage, recycling and organics guidelines.
The County of Simcoe is responsible for residential waste collection services, but not required to provide collection services to dwellings located on private (not municipally serviced) roads. However, many private (cottage) roads can receive access to curbside collection services provided access is safe for single-operator waste collection vehicles.
If your private road is deemed eligible, collections will occur as long as the road is deemed accessible. Each road will be assessed individually. If a road is deemed eligible, the following waste collection services will be provided:
- Two untagged bags of garbage bi-weekly
(additional bags must have a County garbage tag affixed, limits apply)
- Bi-Weekly recycling collection
- Weekly green bin collection
- Bi-weekly yard waste collections in the spring, summer and fall
- Annual curbside collections of clothing/textile and electronics
- Access to a user-pay call-in bulky material collection service available from June to September

Residents in cottage areas are strongly encouraged to use a curbside garbage box in order to mitigate animal issues. Boxes with top access must not be deeper than one metre, be easily opened and capable of remaining open while waste is removed. Boxes should have some means of identification to indicate if waste is present for collection.
