Ensure containers are clearly labelled, secured and leak-proof. Never combine products and keep Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) material separate from other materials in your load, as explosive or poisonous chemical reactions may occur.
Acceptable Materials:
- Paints & stains
- Oil, transmission and antifreeze fluids
- Batteries
- Fire Extinguishers
- Oil filters & containers
- Fluorescent bulbs & tubes
- Gasoline (containers cannot be returned)
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Pool chemicals
- Mercury thermostats
- Pesticides (fungicides, herbicides, insecticides)
- Fertilizers
- Propane tanks and cylinders (must be 100lbs or less with the valves intact. Bonnets / collars are required for larger cylinders)
- Needles & syringes (containers must be leak-proof containers with tight-fitting, lockable lids, with clear bio-hazard label)
Unacceptable Materials:
- Explosives (spent fireworks, flares, ammunition and gun powder)
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors etc.
