The New Rental Development Program leads to the creation of
affordable rental housing units using Federal and Provincial funding.
There is currently an opportunity for funding for the creation of purpose-built affordable rental units, specifically in smaller rural communities.
The County is accepting proposals from private or non-profit proponents to develop affordable rental housing. This proposal shall be for the application of up to $800,000 in available Federal/Provincial funds over a two year period, under the Investment in Affordable Housing Program 2014 Extension (IAHE) for projects located in the County of Simcoe. The units must remain affordable for a minimum of 25 years.
Proponents must meet all the Minimum Eligibility Criteria stated in the submission documents included in the Request for Proposal. The deadline for a complete submission is April 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. (local time).
For more detailed information regarding the Request for Proposal, please visit Simcoe County Bids and Tenders for access to Rural Rental Development Funding Opportunity submission documents.
There are additional County financial incentives to support
the creation of affordable housing. For
projects developed outside of Federal and Provincial funding programs, proponents
may apply for a rebate of County Development Charges.
