Welcome to our new volunteers: Emma, Sarah, Bill, Jacob, Madelyn, Meghan, Nancy, Irina, Joan & Sloan and Irene.
We had 5 Co-op students completing their placements at Georgian Manor from February until June in Program and Support Services. We are so lucky to have partnerships with local high schools and appreciate all the hard work of the students. Thank you!
Rebecca Arbour has been hired as our new Youth Volunteer Outreach Coordinator. Her role is to spread awareness within the community about volunteer opportunities at Georgian Village, as well as assist in the volunteer orientation and implementation process within Georgian Village. Rebecca has been very active in the community in this recruitment role, going into elementary schools, high schools, as well as community centres and libraries.
We are working diligently with both our community partners as well as the Museum to discuss ways to streamline the Volunteer program in order to provide effective service to our current and prospect volunteers. Further to this, new Volunteer referral cards are being added to the program. Any new volunteer referred to by a current volunteer includes them into monthly giveaways.
We are proud to announce the Volunteer program will now be called “Simcoe Strong" to reflect the strong commitment of our volunteers for the residents that we serve. Volunteers have been outfitted with their new Simcoe Strong Vests. The vests help to identify the volunteers and give them the recognition they deserve around the home. Below: Anita, Bernice, and Linda show off their new vests.
Volunteer education is taking place in the fall with a date to be determine. Stay tuned....
“Theme Days" are held throughout the year for a chance to win a prize. Stay tuned for posters displayed around Georgian Village for more details!
As you know we have been implementing a program called Music & Memory on all home areas, where residents are set up with personalized playlists that are loaded on to an iPod for them to enjoy. We have seen great success in this program and appreciate how well the multidisciplinary team works together to allow residents to enjoy their favourite music. We are excited to announce the rebranding of the program to “Mind & Melody" as we are no longer using the Music and Memory brand. Please note that the goals of the program remain the same.
