To Book a Visit

When you visit, you will be required to wear a surgical mask. One will be provided for you upon entry and other PPE as required. It is recommended that you arrive at the home a minimum of 10 minutes in advance of your scheduled visit in order to complete active screening and travel to the designated visiting area.  You must pass screening in order to visit with your loved one.

Essential Visitors and Caregivers

  • Currently, only Essential Visitors for compassionate or palliative reasons are permitted in the home; however, this week we will begin to re-introduce Essential Caregivers
  • An Essential Caregiver is an essential visitor who is designated by the resident and/or their substitute decision-maker and is visiting to provide direct care to the resident (e.g., supporting feeding, mobility, personal hygiene, cognitive stimulation, communication, meaningful connection, relational continuity and assistance in decision-making)

All Essential Caregivers must strictly adhere to Ministry Long-Term Care safety requirements:

  • One designated caregiver per resident (with an expansion to two designated at a later date)
  • One visit per week for a maximum of one hour
  • Caregiver requires a negative COVID-19 swab collected within 5 days of first visit. After first visit, caregivers will require a negative COVID-19 swab collected within 14 days of subsequent visits
  • It is strongly recommended that caregivers get their flu shot before coming into the home to protect our residents
  • Residents on droplet/contact precautions are to be assessed by infection prevention and control prior to allowing essential caregivers

During your Visit:

  • Visitors will be required to be escorted on and off the units by staff.
  • You will be required to sign a declaration that outlines expectations, includes an acknowledgment that the policy has been reviewed, and safety training
  • All visits will take place in the designated resident's room, including meals when caregiver is present.
  • PPE as provided by the Home must be worn at all times
  • The designated caregiver is expected to maintain physical distancing of at least 2 m from all other residents and Home staff at all times.  If caregivers require to speak with staff, they are encouraged to ring the call bell for assistance and staff will respond to the resident's room.  Wandering through the unit is not permitted.
  • Any items brought in by the essential caregiver for the resident (except food intended to be consumed during the visit) will be subject to current Resident Belongings protocols
