Book a Visit to a Long-Term Care Home

To Book a General Visit

​When you visit, you will be required to wear a surgical mask. One will be provided for you upon entry and other PPE as required. If you are not  immunized or partially immunized you will be required to wear eye protection as well. It is recommended that you arrive at the home a minimum of 10 minutes in advance of your scheduled visit in orde​r to complete active screening, antigen testing and travel to the designated visiting area.  You must pass screening in order to visit with your loved one. 

All General Indoor Visitors must strictly adhere to Ministry Long-Term Care safety requirements:

  • Please recognize the limits regarding availability of visit times and limit your visit accordingly  
  • The visitor requires a negative antigen test the day of the visit. Antigen tests are performed at the Home during the screening process.

 During your Visit:

  • All visits will take place in the designated resident's room, including meals when caregiver is present.
  • PPE as provided by the Home must be worn at all times
  • The visitor is expected to maintain physical distancing of at least 2 metres from all other residents and Home staff at all times, if not fully vaccinated.  If visitors require to speak with staff, they are encouraged to ring the call bell for assistance and staff will respond to the resident's room.  Wandering through the unit is not permitted.

To Book an Outdoor Visit

​​​A visitors' log will be in the main entrance just inside the first set of doors (vestibule) for visitors to sign in and complete our screening tool. The screening tool is posted on large signage directly beside the log book.

  • Please use a clean pen from the basket when completing the log book, and place the pen into the “used" pen basket when finished.
  • If you have any COVID-19 signs or symptoms, please do not visit.
  • Our staff will bring your loved one outside at the time requested.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained ​at all times.
  • No more than two (2) people are allowed in the vestibule at a time.​​

TBook an Essential Caregiver Visit
​​​When you book your visit, please book separetely for each visitor.  

When you visit, you will be required to wear a surgical mask. One will be provided for you upon entry and other PPE as required. If you are not  immunized or partially immunized you will be required to wear eye protection as well. It is recommended that you arrive at the home a minimum of 10 minutes in advance of your scheduled visit in orde r to complete active screening, antigen testing and travel to the designated visiting area.  You must pass screening in order to visit with your loved one.

​Essential Caregivers

  • An Essential Caregiver is an essential visitor who is designated by the resident and/or their substitute decision-maker and is visiting to provide direct care to the resident (e.g., supporting feeding, mobility, personal hygiene, cognitive stimulation, communication, meaningful connection, relational continuity and assistance in decision-making).

All Essential Caregivers must strictly adhere to Ministry Long-Term Care safety requirements:

  • Please recognize the limits regarding availability of visit times and limit your visit accordingly.
  • Caregiver requires a negative antigen test the day of the visit. Antigen tests are performed at the Home during the screening process.

 During your Visit:

  • On your initial visit you will be required to sign a declaration that outlines expectations, includes an acknowledgment that the policy has been reviewed, and safety training.
  • All visits will take place in the designated resident's room, including meals when caregiver is present.
  • PPE as provided by the Home must be worn at all times.
  • The designated caregiver is expected to maintain physical distancing of at least 2 metres from all other residents and Home staff at all times, if not fully vaccinated.  If caregivers require to speak with staff, they are encouraged to ring the call bell for assistance and staff will respond to the resident's room.  Wandering through the unit is not permitted.
