Accessibility in Orillia

The City of Orillia is working on various initiatives to improve access.

  • Orillia has an annual budget strictly for repairing sidewalks to make them more accessible (this does not include new sidewalks being installed)
  • The Orillia Opera house replaced the fixed seating with new removable seating (some armless) and this now allows for additional room for wheelchairs.
  • Orillia has 11 parks with 'paved' trail systems throughout.
  • Orillia is in the process of building a brand new Port building (accessible washrooms, showers to go with the accessible boat slips) at Couchiching Park which will be completed in 2017
  • Orillia is constructing a brand new Multi Use Recreational Centre – fully accessible, which is now underway and set to be completed in Summer 2018
