Warden’s Gala raises $55,000 for United Way Simcoe Muskoka

Midhurst/October 4, 2019 – Simcoe County Warden George Cornell hosted the 13th annual Simcoe County Warden's Gala at The Club at Bond Head on October 3, 2019. Thanks to the sponsorship of numerous individuals, businesses and organizations, the event raised $55,000 in support of United Way Simcoe Muskoka.

“I would like to thank all our generous sponsors who attended the 13th annual Warden's Gala," said County of Simcoe Warden George Cornell. “Over the past 60 years, United Way Simcoe Muskoka has provided supports to our residents in need and helped equip our partners with resources to implement life-changing programs. We are proud to continue to support United Way Simcoe Muskoka through our Gala, which has raised more than $755,000 to-date."

This year's speakeasy-themed Warden's Gala highlighted the Saints and Sinners Bootleggers' Run Trail, which brings together 17 beer, wine and cider producers from across the Counties of Simcoe, Grey and Bruce. The evening also included a musical performance by the Sean Stanley Quintet and Miss Dior and the outstanding work of 104.1 FM The Dock's Meg Whitton as the evening's emcee.

The County of Simcoe is a proud partner of United Way Simcoe Muskoka in part because of the shared missions. Through the Children and Community Services, Social Housing, and Ontario Works departments, the County administers essential social services programs for close to 500,000 residents throughout the region including the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia.

“We are thankful for the relationship that we have with the County," said United Way Simcoe Muskoka CEO Dale Biddell. “It's a relationship that extends far beyond workplace philanthropy. By sharing knowledge and data and by working together, we are able to make the deepest investment and impact on the social issues that limit opportunities for a full life for too many of our residents."
