Celebrate National Paramedic Services Week

May 28 to June 3

Midhurst/May 16, 2017 – May 28 to June 3, 2017 is National Paramedic Services Week and activities are scheduled throughout Simcoe County to recognize and celebrate the dedication of our front line Paramedic Services personnel.

The celebrations start with the swearing in of our the Honourary Paramedic for a Day contest winner, Heidi Flood, a Grade 5 student from St. Paul's Catholic School, on May 23, 2017 during County Council.

Heidi's essay was chosen from over 60 essays submitted by local Grade 5 and 6 students who entered the annual writing contest. Heidi will receive a certificate, first aid bag, and stethoscope and will spend the day with a County of Simcoe paramedic crew learning about the job. This will include touring a paramedic station, meeting with police and fire personnel to learn how emergency services work together, and assisting paramedics as they perform a mock exercise.

"This is always a great week and we look forward to kicking it all off by swearing in Heidi as our honourary Paramedic for a Day," said Warden Gerry Marshall. "The vital role of our paramedics extends far beyond 9-1-1 medical response. County of Simcoe Paramedic Services provides community based programs, training and educational initiatives that help save lives. Join me in thanking all our amazing paramedics for their many contributions to our communities."
