REMINDER: Job seekers invited to attend Work in Simcoe County Virtual Job Fair

 

Midhurst/ May 28, 2021 The County and area partners, including member municipalities, the Cities of Barrie and Orillia, Georgian College, Lakehead University, Employment Ontario and the Province of Ontario, are collaborating to deliver an online “Work in Simcoe County" Job Fair on Wednesday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Individuals seeking employment in Simcoe County are welcome to attend this interactive virtual Job Fair to connect with some of our local businesses that are actively seeking to engage prospective employees.

The pandemic has had a significant impact on our local economy and labour market, and area partners, including the County of Simcoe, are collaborating to assist residents in gaining employment and help our local employers fill quality positions across our region.

Data collected from the County of Simcoe's Work in Simcoe County website, workinsimcoecounty.ca, shows that in the month of April there were close to 6,800 active job openings in our region. The Virtual Job Fair is an opportunity to connect job seekers and local employers in key sectors, including: manufacturing and distribution; agriculture and food processing; healthcare and social assistance; transportation; hospitality and tourism; communications and IT; not-for-profit organizations; construction and the trades; education and training and professional services.

Seventy-five regional employers are already signed up to attend, including Honda of Canada Manufacturing, Maple Leaf Foods, MiTek Canada, MacLean Engineering, Reinhart Foods Limited, Vins Plastics, SYDNIC Computer Systems, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, Innovative Automation, Glueckler Metal Inc., Tempo Plastics, HJV equipment, CANPLAS, DECAST Ltd, Dr. Parekh and Associates, Sienna Senior Living, Compass Group Canada, Landmark Bus Lines, Brotech Precision, Community Builders Construction, Baxter, Friday Harbour Resort, Napoleon, County of Simcoe, City of Barrie, Town of Innisfil and Town of New Tecumseth.

The County and our area partners are encouraging employers and job seekers to sign up to the event. Registration details for employers looking to participate and recruit, as well as for job seekers, are included below.

This is a FREE event, but registration is required.

The Virtual Job Fair is limited to those employers offering employment within the 16 member municipalities of the County of Simcoe and the separated Cities of Barrie and Orillia. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today! For questions about the job fair, please contact edo@simcoe.ca.
