Midhurst/ January 24, 2017 – On January 27, Emergency Management Simcoe County (EMSC) staff will present an emergency preparedness kit to Mihail Mavrakakis, a grade 5 student at Sir William Osler Public School in Bradford, Ontario. Mihail entered a draw to win the kit after his class participated in the County of Simcoe's Student Emergency Preparedness (STEP) program.
Emergency Management Simcoe County staff, in partnership with local emergency services, delivered the STEP program to more than 1,400 students across Simcoe County in 2016. Students learned about the various types of emergencies that can occur in Simcoe County, how to create a family emergency plan, and what to include in a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit.
Representatives from EMSC and the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury will present the prize to Mihail during a school assembly at Sir William Osler Public School on January 26, 2017 at 2:55 p.m. Media planning to attend should contact the school prior to the event at 905-775-2922.
