Minesing/January 29, 2018 – The Simcoe County Museum presents Canada: Day 1 a bilingual exhibition that explores the diverse first experiences and first impressions of immigrants to Canada, from Confederation to present day. The exhibit will be on display at the Simcoe County through April 15, 2018.
Through oral histories, archival images, original artworks, objects and your participation, Canada: Day 1 thoughtfully explores newcomers' unique and shared personal experiences—across time and cultures. Explore Day 1 through the themes of Transitions, Arrival, Encounters, Finding Your Way and Reflections. You will be transported back to your first day in Canada, or inspired to imagine yourself in a newcomer's shoes.
Canada: Day 1 is a travelling exhibition produced by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 as a legacy project of our nation's 150th anniversary and supported by RBC Foundation.
