County of Simcoe showcases local employment opportunities at 2019 Skilled Trades Expo on May 16

 

Midhurst/May 8, 2019 – On May 16, the County of Simcoe's Economic Development Office is hosting the 2019 Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo at the Elmvale Community Arena to connect residents of all ages with local employers offering rewarding full- and part-time employment opportunities across Simcoe County.

“The Skilled Trades Expo is a great way to inspire our next generation of workers and promote the wealth of local career opportunities in the skilled trades," said Warden George Cornell. “This event has proven to be a successful formula and we look forward to supporting tradespeople, addressing labour market challenges and ultimately growing our local economy."

The event serves as an opportunity for local employers to showcase their thriving businesses and the growing demand in the skilled trades sector in Simcoe County. The 2019 event will feature two sessions: a students-only session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a career fair component geared for the general public, high school students and job seekers from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo is co-ordinated through a partnership between the County of Simcoe, Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board, City of Orillia, City of Barrie, Springwater Township, Georgian College and the Flos Agricultural Society.

County of Simcoe is composed of sixteen member municipalities and provides crucial public services to County residents in addition to providing paramedic and social services to the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia. Visit our website at simcoe.ca.
