Collections Update - July 2

Midhurst/July 2, 2020 - Due to extremely high volumes of recycling materials, collections crews are having to offload trucks at a higher rate. Offloading the trucks takes them away from collecting for approximately 1-2 hours, in most cases making it difficult to complete collections on those days.

If your area is ever missed, we will alert you on the Simcoe County Collects App, and in most cases, crews return the following morning to service incomplete routes from the previous day. The Simcoe County Collects app is free and available through GooglePlay and the AppStore. For more information on the app, visit the Solid Waste Management page on our website.

In Fall 2021 the County of Simcoe is moving to an entirely new collection system that will utilize larger bins and an automated collection process. This will make a significant difference in managing spikes in volumes effectively, in addition to mitigating the current labour shortages for drivers. For up-to-date information on the new automated collection service starting November 2021, click here. Additional information will be made available through a fulsome marketing campaign in summer 2021.
