We are also pleased to advise that our resident remains in hospital doing well and has now been tested a second time – testing negative for COVID.

As of Monday morning, Simcoe Manor will begin to book both window and patio visits for our residents.

June 29 (4 p.m.)

The County of Simcoe is pleased to report that following extensive rapid COVID-19 testing at Simcoe Manor, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has confirmed that there are NO other positive cases at Simcoe Manor among staff or residents.

The sole resident who tested positive for COVID-19 remains in hospital and his health is improving. We wish him a healthy and full recovery.

The health and well-being of our residents and staff remain our number one priority, and we are very proud of our quick and decisive actions, and the skill and training of our highly qualified staff in handling this difficult situation. Their dedicated response ultimately led to this positive outcome for our home.

Simcoe Manor will remain in outbreak protocol until further notice from the SMDHU.

From the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the County has prioritized the health and well-being of our most vulnerable residents, and through our extensive health protocols, we have done and continue to do everything possible to minimize the risk to our residents and staff and limit their exposure to the coronavirus. To date, the County of Simcoe's four long term care and seniors services facilities, which provide care to 1,300 seniors, have only experienced this single positive case of COVID-19.

We will continue to keep residents, families and staff updated and do everything we can to keep Simcoe Manor and all our homes safe.
