County of Simcoe implements mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

Midhurst/September 10, 2021 Municipalities and organizations across Ontario are beginning to implement various vaccination protocols and policies. Recent recommendations from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit have also urged employers to establish a workplace COVID-19 vaccination policy in order to protect employees, residents, customers, and clients.

The County of Simcoe is firmly committed to providing a safe working environment for all of our employees and members of the public. We have also shown leadership in encouraging and providing access to vaccinations. With the health and safety of those who work within our organization or who interact with us as our main priority, leaders at the County have approved the introduction of a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for all employees, students, and volunteers.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Policy ensures mandatory vaccinations for all employees, students, and volunteers at the County of Simcoe, while providing exemptions for grounds protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code and confirmed medical reasons. Those covered by this policy are required to be fully vaccinated by November 1, 2021 or must complete education on the benefits of vaccination and must undertake regular rapid antigen testing in order to access any County facility.

Together, we will continue to fight this pandemic to ensure the health and safety of our communities and for future generations.
