The Age-Friendly Business/Organization Award Program instruction brochure helps business owners assess if their business is designed to serve everyone. An Age-Friendly business/organization is people-friendly— appealing to all ages and abilities. As an integral part of the community, businesses/ organizations can be key to making a community more livable and engaged.
This program provides guidance, resources and tools to enable business owners to identify, promote and be recognized for implementing age-friendly practices. As our population ages, it makes viable business sense to adapt to meet the changing needs of communities as it represents a major trend for investment and spending.
The program wishes to acknowledge those who are working towards implementing Age-Friendly practices and who have demonstrated a willingness to continually maintain and improve by instituting and promoting best practices for serving individuals of all ages and abilities.
If you are currently implementing age-friendly business practices or are in the planning stages of helping to make your business become more age-friendly, we want to hear about it. If you have implemented new age-friendly practices since a previous Age-Friendly Business Recognition Award, we want to hear from you too!
Age-Friendly Business Recognition Award winners will receive a one-time complimentary digital marketing package valued at over $350 (conditions apply), a certificate, decal for their door, along with being recognized through a County press release, social media and on the County website. 2024 Age-Friendly Business Recognition Awards Recipients
In January 2024 the County of Simcoe celebrated the contributions of businesses and individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to creating age-friendly communities during the inaugural County of Simcoe Age-Friendly Recognition Awards ceremony.
Businesses honoured included Sandycove Drug Store (Innisfil), Seniors at Play (Orillia), Right at Home Canada (Collingwood), Hunt Family Movers (Innisfil), Hearing Life (Bradford West Gwillimbury), and Focus Employment Services (New Tecumseth). They were each recognized for the progress they’ve made to improve services for seniors within Simcoe County.
