Frequently Asked Questions

Human Resources - FAQs

1. What type of positions exist at the County of Simcoe?

The County of Simcoe offers exciting career opportunities throughout its various departments and disciplines. These department listings are not actual job openings. Please visit our Careers page to see a list of current employment opportunities.

2. Why should I create a profile?

A profile is like an online resume that you can use specifically for County of Simcoe job opportunities.  There are several benefits to creating and maintaining a profile:

  • Once a profile is created, all you are required to do is maintain it (update it as details change).
  • Applications are easier to submit because all data that you include in your profile (work experience, education, contact information) is saved in your profile.
  • The County of Simcoe may search registered profiles when seeking to fill a position

3. How do I create and access my profile?

From the Careers home page, click on the "First Time Visitors: Register" button. Enter all the necessary information.  You will receive an email confirmation once registration is completed.

On your successive visits, click the "Returning Visitors: Login" button. You will need to enter the user name and password that you used when you created your profile.

4. How do I apply for a job at the County of Simcoe?

Please search our current list of job postings to see if there are any positions that match your interest and qualifications.  If you find a job that you're interested in, highlight the job, then click the "apply" button.  Follow the instructions in the application wizard.

5. May I apply to more than one position at a time?

Yes, you are welcome to apply for all positions that match your qualifications. However, you must apply to each position individually.

6. Can I apply after the closing date?

All job opportunities close at 11:59pm on the closing date.  Resumes that are received after the closing period will not be considered.  To avoid missing out on any opportunity it is advised that you submit your application as early as possible.

7. What happens to my resume when I apply for a job?

When you apply to a position, and your resume is received by the Human Resources department, you will receive a confirmation notification by e-mail.  Your resume will be held in an electronic file for that specific job competition. Once the job posting period has closed, all resumes are screened relative to the qualifications listed on the job posting. Only candidates under consideration will be contacted for an interview.

8. How do I know if you received my application for a posting?

Once you have submitted your application, you will immediately receive a message on the screen indicating that your application was successfully received.  You will also receive an e-mail confirming the receipt of the application.

A different way to check the status of your application is to log on to your candidate profile, and select the "My Applications" tab.   You will be able to see the history of your applications with the County of Simcoe.  If the status of a posting says "In Process", it means that we have successfully received your application. If the status is listed as "Draft", you have not yet completed your application for the position, and will need to do so before the posting period is over so that we may consider you for the position.

9. How do I find out about the status of my application?

You may find out about the status of your application by logging in as a returning visitor. Once you are in your profile, click 'My Applications'.

10. I do not see the job opportunity that I am looking for on your web site. Can I submit my resume for future opportunities?

If you have viewed our current job postings and there is not a position that interests you, you may register your online profile with the County of Simcoe. The Human Resources department may search the database of registered profiles when seeking to fill a position.  However, candidates are expected to return to the website frequently and apply directly to any postings that they may be interested in, or create a Job Agent which will notify them of any postings that match their interests.
