How to I prepare my clothing for collection?

Follow these guidelines to ensure your clothing is collected:

  • Place dry, odour-free clothing and textiles into sealed, *clear bags
  • Sealed bags must be placed 2 feet from carts or other objects
  • Clothing may be ripped or stained but it must be dry and odour-free
  • Clothing collection coincides with your regular collection day but it will be a different truck collecting your clothing bags
  • There is no limit however each bag should not exceed 20 kgs

*NEW – In an effort to reduce waste, pink clothing bags will not be mailed out in 2024. Those who participate in clothing collection may use clear bags.

What happens to the clothing after collection?

The material is collected, consolidated and shipped to a textile processing facility who has a partnership with a local thrift store chain. All the clothing goes to the thrift store. Unsold items are shipped to developing nations and textiles which are too worn or damaged are sent to companies for upholstery stuffing and rags.
