PUBLIC NOTICE CONCERNING THE 2017 BUDGET

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the County of Simcoe will be considering the 2017 County Budget at its meeting on the 22nd day of November, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

The meeting will be held in the County of Simcoe Council Chambers, County of Simcoe Administration Centre, 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst, Ontario.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT
THE PURPOSE of the 2017 budget is to establish the revenue and expenditures for the year 2017 for the County of Simcoe including the County levy on rateable property within the County of Simcoe.

THE EFFECT of the proposed 2017 budget will be to establish County spending at $469M.

Major components of the budget are:
-$3M contribution to hospital capital funding reserve
-$1.5M contribution to education through Lakehead University and Georgian College
-expenditures of $53M for Paramedic (land ambulance) services
-expenditures of $54M for Long Term Care
-expenditures of $44M for Children and Community Services
-expenditures of $76M for Ontario Works
-expenditures of $61M for Social Housing
-expenditures of $66M for Transportation and Engineering
-expenditures of $48M for Solid Waste Management
-Total County tax levy of $151M

Increases to the general levy are required to fund our health and social services and our environmental and infrastructure commitments.
